Mijo is recently back from a song writing journey to the far north wilderness of Iceland where he crafted lyrical songs from the hidden geographies of worlds inner and outer. Mijo’s live show travels from the intimate prose in music to the more enlivening chant anthems, enough to inspire an epiphany and perhaps even a genuine singalong.
Mijo has performed with Gotye, Clare Bowditch, Missy Higgins, Tommy Emmanuel among many other wonderful Australian and international artists. Although references are made to Jeff Buckley, Wainwright, Fleet Foxes and Cohen among others, Mijo continues to eludes pigeon-holes with his distinctive voice in the world of song writing and vocal delivery.
“Moody, heartbreaking, stunning, f#$king epic.” – Beat Magazine
“Lamplight and a sold-out Northcote Social Club travelled an intense nautically themed journey that was part sea-shanty, part thrash, part croon, and completely fucking breathtaking. The night saw an aggressive and vivid live beast unleashed after many months of recording.” – Beat Magazine
“Fantastic haunting pop. There are Buckley-esque tones to the vocals - perfect for the soaring melodies. Lovely warm, acoustic instrumentation. Defo one for fans of Augie March, Mum, Beirut etc.” - Dan Buhagiar, Triple J Radio
