On Saturday evening, 19th August, in the convivial surrounds of the Charles Weston Hotel, the Grumpy Neighbour duo will present an evening of songs based on the personal, geographical and historical perspectives of an island continent. Rich, deep melodies are aided and abetted by soaring harmonies, while various instrument combinations provide an evolving soundscape to entice the listener. Along with the wealth of original material, they also own a select number of pre-loved covers guaranteed to raise eyebrows and delight in their rendering.
The duo have been variously been described as Steampunk folk, Contemporary Old Time, and even Quirky Tasmanian Folk. Grumpy Neighbour borrows from a great many traditions of acoustic music to create their diverse approach to Australian song.
